In a crackdown, the Karnataka Transport Department on Friday appropriated 30 taxicabs for offering offer administrations prohibited by it yet gave 15 days more to taxi aggregators to deal with the ride-sharing issue.

The activity came as the prohibition on ride-offering administration was put into impact to the state government naming it illicit summoning arrangements of the Central Motor Vehicle Act and Karnataka On-request Transportation Technology Aggregators Rules, 2016.

"There was a meeting today and the legislature has chosen to give them (taxi aggregators) 15 days time, and henceforth there will be no activity against them to offer share-administrations,"

Karnataka Transport Commissioner M K Aiyappa told PTI in Bengaluru. Prior, on January 30, the vehicle division had given three days time for the taxicab aggregators to turn out with proposals to deal with the sharing administrations and different issues identifying with drivers.

Since the due date finished on Friday, the office started the activity and appropriated 30 taxicabs for offering offer administrations, Aiyappa said. Nonetheless, the taxicabs will be discharged after the installment of punishment of Rs. 1,000 for every taxi, he said.

Since the administration has given an additional 15 days time, the division has quit appropriating vehicles, Aiyappa said.

The taxi aggregators had presented share administrations - Uber Pool and Ola Share - to lessen activity clog and take the ride at lower cost.

Prior, the Transport Department had prohibited bicycle taxis, which were presented for a concise period by Ola and Uber.

The meeting was held to deal with the sharing administrations and different issues identifying with drivers, the Commissioner said.

Aiyappa said government would actualize their recommendations to correct a few arrangements under the state rules, on the off chance that they are out in the open intrigue.

"The taxi aggregators have been made a request to make their entries. On the off chance that the alteration which they are looking for is in light of a legitimate concern for general society, then the legislature will do it," he said.

Answering to a question, Aiyappa said the legislature would look for legitimate assessment on their suggestions before making any correction to the state rules.

The taxicab aggregators, on January 30, had consented to roll out specific improvements in their program and pitched for presenting certain suggestions to tackle different issues, he said.

Asked what correctional measures the division would take against violators following 15 days, Aiyappa stated, "We will document a chargesheet under the watchful eye of the court against the violators."

"For the main offense it is Rs. 2,000, second and consequent offense is Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 10,000. The court will impose the punishment. Second and consequent offense we will take up the issue for cancelation of the allow," he included.

Aiyappa said as the per the standards, the taxis are allowed just to pick and drop travelers to a specific point.
